Yes, you don't really have to follow the rules. I have it and as much as I've used it and none of my baskets are broken or anything, you just have to be a little more careful not to break them while chewing.

I'm sure you shouldn't do that technically. However, I have it and I chew it and eat things I shouldn't. All you have to do is brush your teeth frequently and if you're unlucky, you'll probably be fine!
